Remembering Rooney’s Café & Grill – Belvedere Tiburon

Permanently Closed

38 Main St Tiburon California 94920

For decades, Rooney’s Café & Grill was a beloved part of Belvedere Tiburon’s waterfront dining scene. Located at 38 Main Street, the restaurant blended a welcoming, home‑style atmosphere with a menu rooted in California cuisine. Its offerings ranged from vibrant salads—such as hot chicken salad, shrimp Louis, and warm beet salad—to seafood plates, pastas, and comforting luncheon entrées.

The café earned a reputation for being both a local favorite and a pleasant stop for visitors exploring the nearby Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum. Its warm, nautical‑tinged interior and friendly service made it a place where guests felt at ease lingering over lunch or dinner.

According to recent listings, Rooney’s Café & Grill may now be permanently closed, marking the end of an era for a restaurant that once stood out for its approachable charm and thoughtful, seasonally influenced dishes.

Though its doors are shut, Rooney’s remains part of Tiburon’s culinary memory—a reminder of the small, character-rich establishments that shaped the town’s dining identity.

Original Cuisinenet Article

Rooney’s is probably as close as it gets to an Irish bar and grill in Tiburon – except that there’s no bar. There is an enclosed garden in back that is intimate, charming, and perfect for chats over appetizers and a glass of wine.

Inside the sunny restaurant, you’ll find a simple menu featuring such entrees as sauteed rock shrimp on a bed of greens and grilled pork chop with figs. The fresh mozzarella wrapped in roasted peppers is a standout appetizer.

Here you’ll find a place that focuses on a Californian and American menu. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $12 to $20, and you’ll be appropriate if dressed casual.

Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. There`s a Sunday brunch.

Details to Note: Reservations are required. Carryout is available. Parking has been arranged for customers.

Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club, Discover and Carte Blanche
